App Experience

I have never created an app before, so this was a new and exciting experience! I really enjoyed learning the basics of Android Studio and felt extremely accomplished after creating my very first app!

App Ideas

As far as recreational apps, I would love to create an interactive app for me and my friends - I'm not sure exactly what, but I think that would be really cool and fun. Also, I always wanted an app that would help navigate malls. You choose which stores you want to go to, and the app maps out the best route to take. For business apps, I feel like every single business needs an app based on the type of business it is and the services it provides. There is a volunteer EMS organization in my community and I think it would be really meaningful to help create an app that would help them

Module 7 - Simple Android App

This week's assignment was to create a simple Android app to display CSUMB's Computer Science classes with their course descriptions. There was also required to be a place where the user could search for a class by number. To the left is a screenshot of the app that I created as per these specifications.

The videos by Johann Jurius that the professor provided were extremely clear and explained everything so well that I was able to really grasp the information. I learn best when watching a video and seeing someone demonstrate and explain something, rather than just reading a textbook. I was very happy to understand the basics and was able to create the app on my own, without having to ask for help!

I really enjoyed the process of creating this app, as it also included a lot of design elements. I liked playing around with the different components and color options. It was so cool to understand how the layout components were linked to the Java code to create the app. Definitely my favorite assignment so far!
