This week, I continued to work on my service-learning project. I have worked a total of 5.92 hours so far. This week my activities were mainly redesigning the login page of my site. The site's login page is very outdated, with an old and dark look. I changed the page to a white background, added an appealing image, and repositioned the existing elements in a more aesthetically pleasing way. I also fixed some syntax and logic errors in the code to improve the site. Lastly, I reviewed and updated parts of the site's database in accordance with my new design. I hit a bit of a standstill because I didn't know what to continue with next, but I spoke with my supervisor today and he gave me further instructions. I really hope to work many more hours next week so I can catch up and stick to my desired schedule.
For the CST462 class, my team met a few times this week to write the beginning of our research paper including the introduction, literature review, and research question. I found a great article that really fit in with the topic and we were able to refine our research question: What barriers to technology implementation do nonprofit organizations commonly face?
Lastly, in CST328, we learned about typography this week. We were then instructed to create a business card using the typography principles and techniques we learned as well as follow the instructor's example and place an image as the background to our logo's text. I created a business card for myself as a UX/UI designer under the company name U-Design. I created two different versions, playing around with the elements and the visual hierarchy they create.
