  • Do you have an approved community partner?

    • If yes, what is your Service Learning Project Plan status?

    • If not, what is your plan to find a project?

Yes, I do have an approved community partner. I am happy to be working with Hatzolah of Los Angeles, an organization that provides emergency medical services to my community. I will be helping in enhancing the code of the CAD (computer-aided dispatch) system. My next step is to complete the Learning Agreement on the MySLP website. I met with my supervisor today via Zoom, where we had our initial meeting in which he guided me on setting up the server on my computer and introduced me to the components of the site and what exactly I can start on. The meeting was very helpful and productive and I look forward to beginning my hours.

In addition to our service learning projects, this week in CST462 we also formed our research teams. I am working with David Kim and Ngoc Tran Dao. We had a video call meeting to discuss our approach for the research paper and set up our meeting with the professors next week. Additionally, I read about the concepts of social justice, equality, and equity and posted my thoughts in the discussion forum.

In CST328, we first learned some of the basics including the difference between raster files, which are made of up pixels and resolution dependent, meaning size affects the quality of the images, and vector files, which are made up of paths based on mathematical formulas and are resolution-independent. Then we jumped right in by watching videos that introduced the basics of both Photoshop and Illustrator. I made a collage in Photoshop using images from different places I traveled over the past few years. In Illustrator, I created four icons with a purple color scheme: a camera, search, location, and star. See images below.
