This week was a busy week with a lot of material packed in! Firstly, we learned about 2 topics in the lecture videos. We continued with data exploration and saw how to create plots and graphs using a single variable, and then with 2 variables. Next, we started learning about kNN - KNearestNeighbors with problems of classification, regression, and anomaly detection. kNN makes predictions based on a number, k, of nearest points. Thus, k must be determined, as well as a function to calculate distance. With anomaly detection, a threshold number must also be identified. This threw us into machine learning and was very interesting to hear about. We also complete 6 labs corresponding to each lecture.

We also had 3 homework assignments. HW5a was 12 questions creating different plots and graphs on Google Colab. I really enjoyed this homework and it made me more comfortable with taking data and transforming it into meaningful visualizations. HW5b asked about the famous iris dataset and required us to code to obtain the answers. Lastly, HW5c was some questions based on a section from the textbook. It was a busy week, but very productive!
