We just completed the last week of the CST 334 Operating Systems course! This course was fast-paced, challenging, and definitely required a lot of "persistence"! Each week we learned so much and now I feel that I have a deep understanding of the core topics we covered: CPU virtualization, memory virtualization, concurrency, and persistence. We were also assigned labs that prompted us to use and work with different processes and threads, enhancing our understanding. Through the labs, I learned a lot about C programming, which I had never used before. Additionally, I improved my skills in Linux and writing shell scripts, which is a useful skill that I can use in the future. I think the key to being successful in this course is to spend time and focus on the readings as the textbook explains everything clearly and logically (sprinkled with funny comments) and not to procrastinate as much as I did! Studying for the final was enjoyable because I felt that I had a good grasp of the concepts and it showed me how much I have learned! Thank you to the professor, TA, and my group members for helping me through the course!
