This week was the first week of the Computer Networking course. We were assigned to read the first chapter of the book which gave a surface level overview of networking and introduced us to key terminology. The readings discussed the "nuts and bolts" and service views of the internet, the network edge and core, circuit-switched networks, and packet-switched networks including delay, loss, and throughput. It also introduced the protocol layers and touched upon the topics of security and the history of computer networking. We completed a quiz and an assignment, which required us to calculate delays. Lab 0 instructed us how to install and test Mininet and Lab 1 helped us get started with Wireshark. All in all, I think it was a very informative and productive week.
